Job Title Normalization

VP Sales, Vice President of Sales, Sales VP. We make them match.

Job Title Normalization

Job title normalization maps the hundreds of variations in how people describe the same role to standardized categories that your routing, scoring, and reporting can rely on. Without it, lead routing misses half your VP-level contacts because they used a different abbreviation.

People describe their roles in wildly different ways. Your lead scoring gives 50 points to 'VP of Sales' but zero to 'Vice President, Revenue' even though they are the same buyer. Your routing sends 'Head of Marketing' to the marketing specialist queue because it does not recognize the seniority level.

How We Normalize Titles

What Normalized Titles Enable

Common Questions

How do you handle titles that span multiple functions?

Titles like 'VP of Sales and Marketing' or 'Director of RevOps' get tagged with both functions. Your scoring can weight the primary function more heavily if needed. We also flag multi-function titles so you can review the classification if your routing needs to pick one path.

What about industry-specific titles?

We maintain mapping tables for common industry-specific titles. 'Managing Director' means something different in banking than in consulting. 'Partner' at a law firm is different from 'Partner' at an accounting firm. We classify based on the industry context in the record when available.

Can we define custom seniority levels beyond C-suite, VP, Director?

Yes. If your scoring model distinguishes between SVP and VP, or between Senior Director and Director, we can create as many seniority tiers as you need. We map every title in your database to your custom hierarchy and deliver the results as a new standardized field alongside the original.
